FieldView® Plus Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is FieldView Plus?

FieldView Plus is an optional subscription-based service that uses the cloud to provide advanced features to FieldView, allowing farmers to have their information anytime, anywhere, on different devices (web, tablet, and smartphone).

2. What is Precision Acre?

Precision Acre is a program that combines the use of 20/20, FieldView, FieldView Plus, and Climate Basic as a comprehensive suite of support tools. Go to https://precisionacre.precisionplanting.com or select the "Precision Acre" button on the right for more information.

3. How much does FieldView Plus cost?

The FieldView Plus only subscription is an annual purchase that is based on planned farming acres. For Precision Acre program pricing that includes FieldView Plus, go to https://precisionacre.precisionplanting.com or select the "Precision Acre" button on the right for more information.

4. I have multiple iPads on my farm. Do I pay a subscription fee for each one?

No. Multiple iPads in use on a single farm utilize one username, therefore only one subscription fee applies. If you have purchased the Precision Acre suite, there is a subscription fee for each individual package (see Precision Acre for more information.)

5. How do I purchase a FieldView subscription?

Go to https://fieldviewplus.precisionplanting.com/upgrade. Here you will be prompted to login, enter a method of payment and accept the End User License agreement for the current crop year.

6. I already purchased FieldView Plus, how do I upgrade to Precision Acre?

Go to https://precisionacre.precisionplanting.com or select the "Precision Acre" button on the right to link your accounts.

7. Who has access to my payment information?

We use a secure third party service that processes the subscription payment. No information is visible to Precision Planting or its affiliates.

8. The FieldView Plus subscription is based on acres. How are those defined?

As part of the subscription process, we ask you to input your projected acres for the current crop season. Based on this number, you will then be assigned the respective subscription category. We fully understand replant or unexpected custom work occurs as a natural part of the business. We do however reserve the right to utilize the previous season acreage to categorize the subsequent renewal.

9. Where is my data actually stored?

The PrecisionCloud uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to securely store your data. The data physically resides on servers in Amazon data centers located in the United States.

10. How fast does the data transfer occur?

CloudSync happens in near real time. Approximately every 5 minutes data syncs between FieldView and the cloud. Integrated maps between multiple machines in the same field are typically visible on the other iPads within 15 minutes.

11. Exactly what data is kept in sync between multiple iPads?

The list of field names, all field maps, pins, photos and notes are all synced.

12. Can I import maps into FieldView?

FieldView Plus users can import shape files into the FieldView website. They will sync down to your iPad and be visible as a custom map layer within FieldView. Examples include tile maps or fertility maps. This allows you the ability to view all your map data layers in one place - on your iPad - anywhere!

13. Can I share my data with agronomists or farm managers?

From the FieldView Website Data Manager, you can share field files with trusted advisors via email or a software sharing key.

14. How much of my data plan will it take to move data over 3G/4G?

A 2GB/month data plan should be plenty in the peak planting/harvest season. Smaller growers (less than 2,000 acres) will probably be fine with 1GB/month (allowing for typical non-FieldView use) If you have new iPads that you are Cloud Syncing for the first time, we recommend that you do this over wi-fi to reduce 3G / 4G data use.

15. Can I change the setting so my iPad does not sync data with the Cloud?

Yes. Go to Configure > Device Settings and change "Cloud Sync" to "Disable". This will prevent the iPad from sending/receiving data from the cloud. However, if you disable CloudSync, your data is not backed up and all cloud based features (text alerts, etc) will not function.

16. What is the FieldView website?

https//fieldview.precisionplanting.com provides new, easy-to-use features for FieldView Plus users. Operation-wide maps, reports and tools that allow growers to have a larger view of their operation and manage and share their data.

17. Which year's data is available on the FieldView Plus website?

Only 20/20 data from version 6.0 or greater (Spring 2012 release) will upload to the FieldView Web for use on the Dashboard and Reports.

18. I have a field name that is spelled differently on two of my 20/20's. How do I fix this?

Use the Field Manager in FieldView website to edit field names or merge 2 fields together that are really the same.  Changes made in the Field Manager will flow down to the FieldView app and the 20/20 starting with Fieldview 3.0 and SeedSense 8.0.

19. Can I access FieldView Web from my iPad or other mobile tablet?

Yes. FieldView Web works on iPad and other tablet devices connected to the internet.

20. If I decide I no longer want the added features of FieldView Plus, can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, provided you have not planted or harvested any acres on your account during the subscribed crop season. If you cancel after you have begun syncing planting or harvest data for the subscribed crop season, there are no partial refunds. Please contact Precision Planting Support at 309-925-5050 to cancel your subscription.

21. What will Precision Planting do with my data?

The complete Precision Planting Privacy Commitment is available within FieldView or by clicking here.

22. Can my equipment data be seen to assist with Product Support Issues?

Yes. We allow the dealer you select as your supporting dealer to see machine health info in order to provide advanced support. No field data is available unless you choose to share it with them as in #11.

23. Will there continue to be new features released within FieldView if I am not a FieldView Plus user?

Yes. We plan to continue to enhance and add features available to all FieldView users, as well as add additional premium features for FieldView Plus users in the future.

24. What reporting options are available?

The FieldView website has planting and harvest reports that provide reporting by field, machine, and hybrid. These reports can be viewed online and downloaded as PDF or Excel files. In addition, by June 2014, FV Plus growers with a linked Climate account will be able to print a summary report for FSA and Crop Insurance Reporting.  Additional automated reports and season summaries are also available on the Climate website.
